Alaska King Salmon fishing from the Gulkana River RV ParkWhat we offer that others can't.Two nights stay in a river front RV space in our private RV Park, easy access to the river, and did I mention a river front RV space for two nights? We have over 750 feet of private shoreline and several holes that the Kings like to hold in. Before our park went private, our guests were routinely catching their limits everyday of their stay. Even it you don't have or want to rent a RV, bring a tent and sleeping bag, or stay in a local B&B and fish from our shoreline during your two days. We also have two cabins right on the river you can rent.
"Free Overnight Camping" Right on the Gulkana River with any fishing trip, walking distance to great King Salmon and Red Salmon fishing holes. Stay in your Coach, RV, Tent or one of our cozy cabins and fish our 750 ft. of river shoreline and enjoy 155 acres of private, pristine and uncrowded fishing. Being closed to the public, assures you of a quiet, uncrowded, riverfront campsite. Our guides pick you up here and return you here. What we don't offer!
The map on the right shows the lower Gulkana River as it runs along the Richardson Hwy. This map shows all the access points between where the Gulkana River flows into the Copper River and where Sourdough Creek enters the Gulkana. All guides who drift fish on the Gulkana must launch from one of these access points. Sourdough Campground has easy access to the river but it's 20 highway miles and 30 river miles to the bridge where most trips end. That is over 12 hours on the river! You can also come out at Mile 141.5 or Poplar Grove Creek but your must hike up a steep, quarter mile trail. To enter the river at Mile 141.5 or Poplar Grove, it is necessary to carry a raft down a steep, pot-holed, bug infested quarter mile trail, and you, the client, will have to help carry the fishing gear. The trip from Mile 141.5 to Poplar Grove Creek includes both a hike down a steep quarter mile trail and then up a steep quarter mile trail. The trip from Poplar Grove Creek to Sailor's Pit is very popular with our competition. It starts with a quarter mile hike down a steep trail carrying fishing gear. This is a long trip because they can not come out until Sailor's Pit. The trip from Sailor's Pit to the bridge is short, and since it is a public access point, all the holes from there to the bridge have been plugged with people the last few years. It should be much worse in 2008 because our RV Park is now private and only our permit holders and our guests will be allowed to use our launching ramp. (Rubber rafts only) These are the access points our competition must use for their fishing trips. You either must accept a very long trip, or a short hike carrying fishing gear, or fish crowded holes. Our guided King Salmon fishing trips leave from and return to our own our private RV Park. Very easy access. Plus we include two nights in a river front RV space. Why would you go any where else? Our guided King Salmon fishing trips are the very reasonable price of $195 per person, two person minimum.
